What kind of Dad am I?

Your Movie Dad Personality: Marlin, Finding Nemo
Like Marlin, you are not afraid of discipline, but you also know that your job is to teach your children right from wrong. You are a little timid in your approach, but always find the words to show your children how much you love them in your actions. You expect your children to follow the rules at home -- and at school -- so that they will grow up to be responsible adults.
Perhaps you are a little overbearing sometimes. Your love for your children can get in the way of allowing them to explore the world around them. Loosen up just a little, and you'll find that the values you are teaching them will keep them on the straight and narrow path to adulthood.

The TV dad he most closely resembles is: Ray Barone
Ray Barone, the title character of Everybody Loves Raymond, is the typical father. That show has been such a hit because its characters are so familiar, especially Ray in his role as a loving father, husband, son, and brother. But Ray can be self-centered and sometimes he forgets that he needs to put his children first. This can come off as being thoughtless, but it's never done with bad intent.
This kind of father is definitely very loving and concerned about his kids' well-being, but sometimes his wife needs to prod him to be more involved. It's not that he doesn't want to be involved, you see, it just hasn't occurred to him that he needs to step up his efforts in certain areas.
This kind of father usually "brings home the bacon" and as long as the bills and mortgage are paid, the kids are fed and clothed and everyone is healthy, he pretty much feels as though he is doing his part. He loves to spend time with his children and they love to spend time with him, but he's not always sure where to take them or what to do with them. Provide him with just enough information and assure him that he's got what it takes to care for the kids, and maybe you'll find yourself alone in the house one Saturday morning while he takes the kids to the park.

If you prefer the "lived in" look to picture-perfect surroundings that say "Look, but don't touch," then you'll fit in well in the comforting chaos of the Malcolm in the Middle house.
Yes, the family is slightly dysfunctional, but they do love each other all the same. To make it in this home, you have to overlook the clutter piling up on every surface and feel at ease with leaving dirty dishes on the coffee table. Neat freaks need not apply!
Though the decor may not be chic or up to date, the home is one where you can kick back and put your feet up. And don't worry about taking your shoes off at the door.

Diapers, baths, late-night feedings -- this dad will handle them all like a pro. You can count on him to administer the medicine for baby's first ear infection, and he'll probably want to take Junior to the doctor, as well. In fact, hands-on dads are so involved that they make great primary caregivers (this is the dad you want at home if you're planning to return to work). His parenting style will be based on nurturing, togetherness, and total involvement -- being there for his child will be his first priority.
