I know! I know! Two entries in one day! (Well, it doesn't really feel that way, since I posted this morning when I got home from work, but then I slept. So hey, it's like an all-new day to me!)

Anyway .. just a quick coupla things. First and foremost, that waste of flesh and air Scott Peterson got the death penalty. Sarkasmo was kind enough to poke me on IM and let me know they were about to broadcast the penalty stage live so after much yoinking around with different websites trying to get a live feed that wasn't already over bandwidth, I finally found an audio I could hook up to.
I was so surprised. These days it seems that nobody really catches the appropriate level of hell for their actions. You can do the grossest, most outrageous shit in the world and walk away with a slap on the wrist. And there's a variety of reasons for this, in my humble opinion; on which I will not opine here. I was already resigned to the thought that they'd give this manipulative disgusting bastard life in prison; and support and feed his skanky, slimy ass for the next 60+ years.
When the foreman read 'Death' .. my mouth dropped open. Did I cheer? Damn straight I did.
I used to be anti-death penalty. For most of my life the fact that the majority of people on death row (the one in prison, not the record label) were non-caucasion, low income people who may or may not have committed the crime they were sentenced for - we won't know because they certainly couldn't afford decent legal representation - none of this escaped me. The fact that DNA testing has since exonerated some of the aforementioned brown people also didn't escape me.
But this guy. Jeebus. Could he BE any more slimy, or obviously guilty?
The transcripts of the phone calls to his girlfriend alone were enough to make me gag. Never mind the actual murder.
Laci's mother yelled at him in the courtroom '..divorce was an option. Not murder.'
After the verdict was read, they were chatting about the appeals process, and all of this .. saying that he would probably sit on death row for about 16 years before he got the injection; IF he ever actually does.
Personally, I'm of the mind that they should have dragged him out back right then and beaten him to death with a tire iron. But that's just my opinion. They should have let her family do it, come to think of it.
There's only a couple of instances where I would really support this method. Child abuse .. physical/mental/sexual. Racist douchebags that kill/maim/torture people just because they're a different color. And oh, Scott Peterson. In these situations, I would have to say I advocate letting the families beat the perps to death out back. I'm thinking that would be fair, and give everyone a nice sense of closure. Rapists should have their junk cut off. Preferably by the victim. There is so much shit going on in the world right now that just needs to stop. If you know you can yoink somebody and get .. what? Six months probation? Why not? Right? The legal system these days is such bullshit. The same thing occurred to me when I watched a news feed about 'new evidence' in the Matthew Shepard murder. The two jackholes who killed him now are serving life sentences. They're fed, clothed, housed and educated (if they opt for it) for the rest of their lives, on the taxpayer's dime. They never have to shovel the walk, get their lazy meth-doing asses up and get to work, or worry about supporting their families. Why aren't they taken out to the same fence and given back what they thought was a good idea? They fucking ADMITTED to killing him. They SAID they did. What the FUCK?
