Junk food for your brain

Yanno, the other afternoon I finally managed to sit down and see Bones, with Snoop Dogg and Pam Grier.

I love my Netflix.

But while I was trying to find something to link to up there (before I found the cool pic site that I -did- link to up there) I read most of the first page of news 'n reviews that popped up when I Googled the movie. And I've found that in the last couple of years (it came out back in 2001) people have, for the most part, really lost their sense of humor. Heh.

It's one of those ultimate 'camp/schlock/hilarious/horror' movies. It's not supposed to be High Cinema; and it doesn't pretend to be.
But hey. It's got Snoop Dogg in it; who I happen to like a lot. And it's got Pam Grier in it; who was a driving force (no pun intended) in my teenage years' *cough* development. It's FUN, dammit. That's what it was supposed to be, and that's - in my opinion - what it was.

I could break out in a full blown review here, but I'll spare you. I had fun with the movie, so I thought I'd mention it. It's Camp. It's schlock. It's got a pretty cool soundtrack. Check it out if these things appeal to you; and stay far, far away if they don't. And that's ok with me.

Another cool movie I've seen recently (thanks to Sarkasmo)was The Whole Nine Yards. It was hilarious - and there is a part in there, right at the beginning, that I can truly identify with. Remember how I used to say I'd leave work screaming and banging my head on the steering wheel? It's in there. Right at that moment, Matthew Perry is spang in the middle of my life, and I could relate. Yeah, the rest is goofy and funny and it also isn't High Cinema, but it's now one of my favorite movies. That wee fit he has in his car .. I'm tellin' ya. I FELT that. Hee.

So yeah. During the late morning area of time when the Diva is at work, and I should SO be sleeping, Netflix has wormed it's way into my heart and forced me to actually sit and watch movies, for the first time in .. oh, I dunno .. my LIFE. Since I've never in my entire life spent actual time sitting in front of the TV watching movies. I usually don't go see them in the theatre, either, because either I don't have time, or I don't have money, or both. And although we have subbed to Netflix for a while now, for some reason I've escaped the pull; beyond the rare times the Diva and I have been awake at the same time, actually spending snug time together stuffed up on the couch with the dog watching one every now and again.

But now .. NOW .. I've been sucked in. I actually -jones- for Netflix during that down time when we send the movies back and the next ones in queue get to the house. What the hell is up with that? I am NOT a movie maven. It's almost like the gigantic kick I got out of rediscovering the Library after the Diva started off on her second degree track.
My brain has never been a junk food junkie; I dunno what's up with this. Muahahahah.

Oh, and in other useful information type things .. new readers have found their way to my page by Googling: Penis Labret (because they obviously did not know the term Ampellang, and who can really blame them?) .. 'Ho' (which I find completely hilarious) .. and Paper Mites.

*snark*

I think that is absolutely hilarious. Who says there's not enough variety for everyone in this journal, yeah?
